The naamkaran ceremony is performed by a pundit. After a bath, the baby and his parents wear new clothes. The naamkaran begins with a puja or a havan and prayers are offered for the baby’s health, happiness and long life. The pundit will also draw out the baby’s horoscope and pray for the child.
