Risperidone extended-release injection comes as a solution to be injected into a muscle by a healthcare provider. Risperidone extended-release injection is usually given once every 2 weeks.
Where is risperidone injected?
Risperidone injection will be given to you by your doctor or nurse at two-weekly intervals. It is given by injection into a muscle in your buttock or upper arm. You may be asked to continue taking your tablets for a few weeks after you have started the injections.
How do you dilute risperidone?
Risperidone should be diluted with water or orange juice. When diluted in this way, the product should be used immediately. This liquid should not be mixed with coffee and tea (see section 6 Pharmaceutical Particulars). Risperidone may be given once daily or twice daily.

These tablets are made to dissolve in the mouth. Place the tablet on the tongue and allow it to dissolve, then swallow. Do not split or chew the tablet. While you may take these tablets with water, it is not necessary to do so.
How do you use risperidone liquid?
A starting dose of 0.25 mg twice daily is recommended. This dosage can be individually adjusted by increments of 0.25 mg twice daily, not more frequently than every other day, if needed. The optimum dose is 0.5 mg twice daily for most patients. Some patients, however, may benefit from doses up to 1 mg twice daily.

RISPERDAL CONSTA is indicated for the maintenance treatment of schizophrenia in patients currently stabilised with oral antipsychotics. For most patients the recommended dose is 25 mg intramuscular every two weeks.
