The grapes were developed by horticulturist David Cain and his team at Bakersfield, California-based fruit breeder International Fruit Genetics (IFG). The grapes are produced in California by grower Grapery, which began selling them in 2011.

Moon Drop grapes have a dark blue-hued skin, a pale green flesh and an oblong, tubular shape. (They sort of look like miniature eggplants!) They’re grown by Grapery in the Southern San Joaquin Valley, California and harvested from August to November.

Are Grapery gumdrop grapes seedless?
Gum Drop® grapes are small to medium in size and round to oval in shape, growing in loose, medium-sized clusters. The smooth skin ripens from green to purple, black, or red and they are a little smaller than the common black grape. The flesh is seedless, translucent, and juicy.
