helps you work on your writing and research skills. It can build on your internship experience, too, if you want. Finally, UCDC is a great, fun, adventure. You get to hang out with students from all over the UCs, and meet all sorts of fascinating (and sometimes famous) guest speakers who visit the center.
Does P NP affect GPA UCSC?
Courses which are graded NP earn no credit toward graduation and do not satisfy major/minor requirements or a general education requirements, and cannot satisfy a prerequisite for another course. The grades P and NP both appear on your official transcript, but are not calculated in your GPA.
How does UC Santa Cruz grade?
All graduate students in graduate or undergraduate courses are graded Satisfactory (S) (equivalent to a B or better), Unsatisfactory (U), or Incomplete (I). Graduate students also have the option of receiving a letter grade of A, B, C, D, or F in most courses.

Students in good academic standing may request to take specific courses on a Pass/No Pass basis. Students receive a P (Pass) for work that is performed at C level or better. Work performed at below a C level receives a notation of NP on the student’s transcript, and no academic credit is awarded for the course.

How competitive is the program? Every quarter during the academic year we have 24-27 openings for students from UC San Diego to go to Washington, DC. Typically we get about 30-40 applications. Summer quarter is the most competitive, as we have 15 spots.
