Kaladin
Helaran was a full Shardbearer who was later killed by Kaladin. His Shardblade and Shardplate were stolen from Kaladin by Brightlord Amaram.
Is Shallan insane?
Shallan Davar is insane. Now, I know the first reaction of many of you would be to point out that, yes, of course she’s insane. It’s a requirement for the Knights Radiant. I mean, after all, Syl says in Words of Radiance that’s how they [Knights Radiants] all were, silly’ to Kaladin’s complaint that he was ‘broken’.
Who is Restares?
Restares is an Alethi Brightlord and the presumed leader of the Sons of Honor, a group which seeks to bring the Heralds back to Roshar. He is working with Amaram and advised him to steal both the Shardplate and Shardblade that Kaladin had won in killing the Shardbearer, Helaran.
Who is Ishikk?
Ishikk is a Purelaker, first and foremost. He is also (naturally) a fisherman. He is quite fond of a woman named Maib but isn’t ready to settle down, so he often gives her fish as gifts so that she can’t ‘catch him’.
Who is Thaidakar Stormlight?
Thaidakar is a leader of the Ghostbloods. His purpose, while ultimately unknown, was likely in opposition to that of Brightlord Amaram. King Gavilar mentioned him as a potential suspect for his assassination before Szeth (Gavilar’s assassin) told him that the Parshendi were behind it.
Who is Kaladin in love with?
Kaladin doesn’t seem to have a need to create romantic relationships. He may have developed somewhat of a romantic interest in Shallan, but there is little to be gained there for him. He doesn’t need a spouse to find someone in whom he can trust and confide.
Does Kaladin like Shallan?
Shallan and Adolin work so well romantically and Kaladin and Adolin have such fun scenes and the growing respect has been so good to read. To me, it was always obvious that Shallan and Kaladin would grow to like each other because enemies to lovers is so popular.

There are many amongst the fandom of The Stormlight Archive who’ve theorized that Helaran isn’t actually dead; that it wasn’t Helaran that Kaladin killed when he killed the Shardbearer advancing upon Amaram’s army.

He was the only one of the Davar children who stood up to his father’s brutal temper and blamed him for the murder of his mother . Helaran was a full Shardbearer who was later killed by Kaladin.
Was helaran a surgebinder?
Prior to his death, Helaran was suspected to be investigating an order of Knights Radiant known as the Skybreakers. He might have been a Surgebinder himself as Taravangian suspected him of teaching Surgebinding to Shallan before he was killed.
What did helaran want Shallan to do?
Helaran’s goal is to kill Highlord Meridas Amaram, but he is killed by Kaladin during the battle. Although it is Kaladin’s right to claim Helaran’s Shards, Amaram betrays Kaladin and claims the shards instead. Helaran is protective of Shallan. He encourages her drawing, as he believes her to have the potential to be great at it.
